I have never seen a friendly convoy and had never even thought of joining one myself in my sub.

Here's a screenshot of one of those patrols...was still on GWX1.03:
 All the ships you see, are friendlies...at this point, the enemy hunter-killergroup that intercepted us was already wasted, by combined forces of our acoustic-seeking torps, and 2 German escorts. As we are close to the Norwegian coast - and within range of patrolling Allied carriers - both sides have aircrafts coming in after radio-alerts. Great experience!
