Default What do you tell the wife?

Ok, I am looking for suggestions. Every time I am in a critical situation such as being hammered with depth charges or trying to track a contact, she starts her BS. Can you come downstairs and carry this up for me? or, The windshield washer fluid is empty in my car, I need it filled now, or How do I print this?, come downstairs and show me. As I see it I have only a few options. #1; Get a good set of headphones and ignore her. #2; Every time I turn on my PC make sure she is tied and gagged and packed away down in the basement. #3; Divorce her. I am open to suggestions.

Thank you

Poor planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on mine, and the checks in the mail.

WTF... Is that what you consider it? BS? Your wife means less to you than a friggin' GAME?

From your "options" I'd suggest you grow up and treat her and her needs with a little more respect.

WTF, No sense of humor? Its actually meant to be a joke. If I actually did not listen to her commands she would castrate me. LOL

And then every 5 minutes she would want me to come downstairs and kill the dragon or something.

Sorry 'bout the abruptness... I do have a sense of humor... just not for some things, and this one was close to home. My daughter's marriage broke up after 10 years because her husband couldn't get off the box... It was, and continues to be, a huge mess to deal with...
My advice, avoid castration, listen to your wife...

Didn't mean to offend, I bet that is a mess and I wish you the best of luck with it. I have been trying to get a stepson married and out of the house for 8 years and thats a mess also. As far as the old Colonel, I've been avoiding the castration for 18+ years but have been wondering just how old I need to get where the threat of it no longer matters?

It seems that you have your solution there... Make him take the "calls" from your wife...
1. You will get some quality SH time...
2. He will get sick of it and move out.
3. This is why they don't allow women on subs. :rotfl:

Thanks... no offense taken. My bad for being too sensitive... I had to see the doc this AM about a blood pressure issue and now I'm starting on drugs for that... errrrr! Not a grand morning...

Yeah, I've got 23 invested myself... I can relate to the stepson issue... Took my wife and I awhile to get her son "out of the nest"...

I'm pretty lucky, my wife and I have a small home LAN setup and we play games like Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege and Diablo II together...

BTW, if you get so old that the threat no longer matters, it won't matter 'cuz your laying on your back and they're throwing dirt in your face...

From experience, I can tell you that after slightly over 30 years of wedded bliss, it doesn't matter (well, not as much as it used to anyway:rotfl: ). I think kikn has the perfect solution except that you'd probably have to assist the stepson, anyway.
I have the same problem, except that not only do I have the better half's requests for computer help, but the additional headache of the "computer brain-dead" daughter in law's same requests plus the inevitible "how do I find something once I get it in the computer" type questions and the 6 year old grandsons over the shoulder "admiralling" (hey, why don't you stay and shoot that plane down, or are you gonna blow up that lighthouse?). Just be glad you don't have more in the house.

Good Idea except it has one or two little flaws. I have been trying to get him to take the trash 30' out to the curb since I can remember. I can imagine getting him to do a complicated task like carrying a laundry basket upstairs or putting washer fluid in a car. I would have to send him to school first for those technical tasks. Now answering a computer question he can do, just as sson as you can get him to leave his room and walk down 1 flight of stairs, which at least according to him requires as much effort as putting the space shuttle into low earth orbit. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

Is his room on a separate electrical circuit? A little "computerus interruptus" might be employed...

It sure is and so is the network. The router is located right above the compass on U-103. However, as soon as I implement computerus interruptus, he will then make the effort to walk down the stairs and tell wifeus castrationus, who will in turn give me lots of totalus griefius. Its a vicious circle of which I came to the conclusion long ago I can not win.

Hit the pause button, do her bidding and return when she has concluded her needs concerning you. It is called keeping the peace which often leads to getting a piece. Really, it does not sound like she is asking a lot. Heck, I get the call for carring up the laundry basket (it is heavy) or getting the vacuum out, etc. No big deal, do it with a smile. Eventually, the list will run dry for the day and she will leave you alone. In all reality, help her make it through the day because one day, you just might need her to help you through the day and one only hopes she does it with a smile like you did.
