Well...using Vanilla SH3... couldn't he just RAM the C3 and sink her?
Not exactly an immersive and realistic method.

If it's stock SH3 then start taking out cargo, masts, life boats and so forth. If you have damaged the ship before hand, you may still have a chance of sinking it with you flak gun!

Don't forget the little floatation ring life savers..they blow up too...and the little vent pipes....LOL if you can see it, you can shoot it off

Well since rizZO has not yet replied I'll share two cents.

Lost a few with the type II due to chance shots. If it happens again save before you attack. Then you can experiment with correct depth settings, pistols etc.

If you install GWX roll through the academy and use the deck-gun exam. Just remember to aim below the waterline. Get `em all with more then 50 shells left over

To all those that don't know. Unmodded SH3, and therefore unflavoured, is not "Vanilla" Vanilla IS a flavouring therefore the term does not apply to an unmodded SH3.

SH3 is like Pizza. Or it can be stock.... It is NOT Vanilla.

Thank you for all of your replies guys! Never thought this question would give such a reaction...

Looking at them i conclude that it is possible to sink a crippled ship with the flak gun but takes forever and does not garantuee a kill.

i will try it once it happens again and if that doesnt work i might just try to ram it to see what happens although i dont think my little duck will have much effect on a c3 or a juicy tanker...

Thanks again!

Well you never know.

I took an XXI and had to ram a Liberty Class once upon a time. He was low enough in the water that I managed to run right on the deck.

Of course, I got caught in the rigging, the deck went awash, and I was drug down to 210 meters before I got free...

He only sank because I dog piled onto him at 19 knots, lol. Extra weight made the bow sink and the vents fill with water.

Well that´s not really the whole truth, SH3 (with or without patch, but always without mods) could be considered vanilla, as in Vanilla software, it has nothing to do with the flavour vanilla, it simply means that the software is in original state.
I guess someone thought he was smart and called unmodified content vanilla since it´s a "basic" flavour in icecream, it was a pretty bad choice.
However here at subsim the word stock is used, and that word isn´t much better imo, since it suggests that it´s a "stock game" as in "stock photography" and the like.
