11 March 1940, U-11(IIA) commanded by Oberleutenant z.s. Navarre damages the Destroyer HMS Daring with its last torpedo and sneaks away. The Daring attempts to head southeast to Scapa Flow, but is crippled and not able to fully repair. After nearly two hours at a speed of 2knts the Daring's captain determines that the ship must be abandoned. During the evacuation of the Daring, she is sighted by a squadron of swordfish bombers.

The HMS Daring burns. Picture taken by an unkown sailor. The picture is damaged by water. She slipped under the depths 14 minutes later.

From the periscope of U-55 in the Irish Sea. It is the destoyer HMS Denmark. Only 13 survivors were saved. 4 of which floated on wreckage to the Irish coast. The others were found by RAF rescue teams.
