OMG!!! Any chance of a 'tease' shot or two Leo .... I've been looking forward to how you were going to manage this!

Boy, the stuff you and the team are coming up with .... I could have never imagined when LBO was released!

And not really sure if I am happy with it yet is the particles stuff and effct's. And unfortunatly that one is one you add while in base so I would like to make sure things are a little better first.

I am experimenting with other stuff for the sky and sun but far from ready yet due to learning more about the new control's for it.

Please bear with me. I am Very new to SH4. I am just learning the very simple basics...

I have installed the 1.3 Patch.

I am sailing only Quick Missions, thus far, with the (generically-speaking) 'easy' settings, which shows you how new I am. I am not ready to install the advanced Mods such as Trigger Maru with its many more Realistic and Difficult options/settings. I will have plenty to do/learn to occupy my time until the Patch 1.4 comes out, and can therefore defer major Mods (such as TM) until 1.4 arrives, negating my having to install and then remove such a Mod and reinstall after I am at SH4 1.4.

I would, however, be very interested in installing, at this time, the improved graphics of "ROW". With 48 pages of posts in this ROW thread, it would be helpful if I could get a quick/simple assist to get me jump-started.

Which of the various ROW Mods can I install directly into/on SH4 1.3, without needing any other Mods, such as TMaru?

Is there a mandatory order of installation of such ROW/graphic mods (through JSGME)?

Am I correct in assuming that all the ROW mods linked in the first post in this thread have been updated with any changes announced/released in subsequent posts on the subsequent 48 pages of posts?

Will any/all of these ROW mods need to be uninstalled and then re-installed after the patch 1.4?

Any help/recommendations would be appreciated. Please forgive me for somewhat violating the expected practice of reading/mastering all FAQ before asking questions.

My objective, again, is merely to get some of the great Graphics/EyeCandy without getting up to my elbows in complex mods/options to the game engine itself, or to the difficulty levels. In a month or so, when maybe 1.4 comes about, I'll be able to handle the Big Boy tasks/mods in that regard.

P.S. I am one of the Senior Citizen types hereabouts (60+ old guy) so please be patient and speak loudly and slowly...

I expect that I should be able to Max out SH4 graphics with my Rig:
ASUS P5N32-E SLI
Dual core E6700 Cpu
2GB OCZ PC2 8800 (1100Mhz) RAM
BFG 8800GTX 768Mb Graphics card
24" Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920X1200 native
Windows VISTA 32bit

Hiya,
On 1st page dl all the ROW items
Install JSGME (copy the .exe into sh4 blah blah DATA folder) run from there and it makes a mods folder

Now send a shortcut to desktop for easy jsgme access

Then extract all ROW files into sh4 blah blah NEW folder jsgme made eg: Mods folder

When all ROW is in jsgme mods folder, Run jsgme and you will see on the left all ROW, Choose which variants of eg: classic foam or hi-res (try hi-res your gtx should run it) you highlight mod and click it over to the right (thus activating that mod)

Follow the ROW screeny on page one in that order, That's it your done, Go n try the awesome ROW mod

Ohh and any other jsgme mod compatable you install and use the same as above

Hope this helps

Shoot back if you run into probs

Cheers

Ciao

Hiya,
I've highlighted the row order as such in pic ....................

I've had no probs with this layout

When the mods are in the right side they are installed btw, You can move them back to left (still there in jsgme but not installed to work) ohh some mods like classic sinking and classic row zones you have to uninstall in order eg zones 1st then the other counterpart (hope this makes sense, but with jsgme you can't go wrong honest)

Again any probs post back

Welcome to the Forums btw

Ciao

The only prerequisite mod for ROW is one of the Natural Sinking Mechanics mods (either Light or Classic). The Classic version is closer to reality and the light version is closet to the stock game (easier to sink ships). I enjoy the frustration that comes with stubborn vessels not wanting to sink, so I use the Classic version.

Follow the order in the screenshot of JSGME in the first post.

Yes, the links in the first post should get you the latest versions that have been released (unless I missed something in the thousands of times that I've read this thread :p

Can't answer that one until the patch comes out, but it would be safe to assume that you probably will and possibly wait for mod changes to conform to 1.4 when it gets here. That's the beauty of JSGME, just press the button a few times and it's all out and ready for a patch. Just remember that, if you are in a career when this happens, you will probably have to delete your save games folder, reinstall mods and start the game to clear the games cache file in order to have the mods work correctly.

Hope I was clear and loud enough I'm not too far behind you in age (and feel twice as old).

Thanks for the immediate and extremely helpful responses and advice. All is installed...can't wait to return after dinner and try it all out.

One question remains, though:

I installed the NSM 3.3 Light Mod
I then tried to install the ROW Classic Zones Special Effects vs 2

It did not install and I got this message:
Quote:
"Zones.cfg" has already been altered by the "Natural Sinking Mechanics 3.3 Light" mod.

"CargoDef.cfg" has already been altered by the "Natural Sinking Mechanics 3.3 Light" mod.
Should I worry?

I added new cargo's and special effect's to those files and worked off of the NSM files to make it compatable.

Hiya's,
As leovampire explains about the zones

I should of said sometimes you have to overwrite/allow modification sometimes

The thing with jsgme (gawd bless the creator lol) when you remove/disable or even totally delete a mod jsgme sorts it all back for you as it was before you added the mod (good ehh)

In other words come back, Have food, Put doo dahh parts back in jsgme and allow overwriting etc, If married put your foot down and BEG for playtime he he if not get ready for a thrill trying to sink some ships

Get a good supply of coffee/tea/alcohol or whatever your beverage is, And realise time passes fast now you've upgraded the visuals and get ready for a long stint across the pacific

Ohh you can save etc as you prolly know, Pic snapshot key is defaulted to CTRL with F11 keys and these save in sh4 main folder along where the data n main guts of sh4 is, You cant miss them in vista as they'll be viewable

Anyways you'll love the mods i swear

Happy Hunting

Have Fun

Default 'Arcade' Version of ROW Camera Mod

Leo,

Do you still have a d-load link for the first (original?) version of the ROW camera mod that was called 'Arcade'?

I believe the 3 versions you currently have posted under the ROW thread have been updated. Just wondering if the original version of that camera mod is still available.

(I'm having trouble with Trigger Maru 1.6.4 and the 'ROW Camera vs1' mod. No F-12 external view functionality when the mods are active.)

Regards,

Holtz
