Visit grid BE 39, you will find lots of ships there....
You could also take a look at this: you can see where the boats are on the map! The boats are there; it's just that you're not there where they're here....nevermind

On the F5 screen there is a map in the top left hand corner of the screen whcih you can pull out and it will show you the areas of high naval traffic and also the approximate convoy routes. If you want to bump into plenty of targets go to the western approaches and also working the area around Gibralter, while very dangerous, it also very rewarding in terms of opportunities to sink things.
Me personally I hang around those two areas. |

Sound strange that you dont fins anything on so many patrols.
How long do stay at the sea ? If you just drive to the patrol grid and then back home, it is not meant to be that way. Patrol grid is just a place to go anddo that 24 hrs job, but then the real work starts by seeking the enemy untill it is found. The seas are full of vessels to be found.

You could also have a look in the GWX manual; there are a lot of historical events modelled in GWX....imagine what happy hunting there will be off Dunkirk during operation Dynamo.

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them out. I could probably find targets by scouting around but never seem to have enough fuel after doing the 24 hour patrol, even at slow speed. RR |

Set speed to 8 knots. That is the most fuel efficient setting.

Hi again,
Where can I find the above mod. I believe I had it but deleted because it effected the FPM. I'm about to upgrade Ram and processor so will be able to use it. RR. |

Check out the intelligence map at the Operation Spinnennetz thread on the stickies. It will show you where the targets are thick as flies.

Take a dive now and then at places where you expect contacts.
Place a crew member at the hydrophone slot or better, try the hydrophone yourself and listen for contacts. Also, be sure to have a crewmember in the radioroom slot all the time. That is where the contacts on the F5 map come from. Good luck, hope you find something soon! |

Spending more time submerged using your hydrophone will improve things, if you don't already that is. Even in clear conditions you can miss a lot of potential targets. Silent running, to avoid detection at 2 Kts at a moderate depth like 30 Mtr.
