i'm with Mohr. Flank speed. Deck gun. You have to requisition for the new 10.5 Trigol deck gun. It goes into full production in early 41. It has a much higher rate of fire. Also the new Generation 3 10.5cm ammuntion packs a much bigger punch.

Never had a DD that didn't go down after one torp. If you are careful and the DD isn't armed with a stern gun you can sometimes blow him out of the water with onl one luck shot if you hit the DC ammo on the stern deck of a DD. Done that more than once but usually take a licking cos they turn quickly and start hammering you with their forward guns.

I dont set depth blow keel, I set 1.5 - 2.0 metres below the surface. Magnetic pistol.

I find aiming below keel quite often results in a miss.

I just fire an accoustic eel and let it do the job!!!!
Wonderful results.!! someone here at the forum said: "the Black Swans are the Allies grim Reapers"...:rotfl:
Not when you send them an accoustic down the throat!
no accoustics??? then surface and engage it with the DG in a mortal duel!!!

HARHARHARHAR

you should try a surfaced attack! LINE UP, FLANK SPEED AND FIRE THE DECK GUN!
I did that outside of Loch Ewe.

Sank the Amred trawled and Elco, turned about and had a shooting match with a DD. SO MUCH FUN! Aimed for her weapons and my gunners got the depth charges. So shudda dived and gone... but no... Got sank by collision lol. So, enjoyed it so much, went back to my save and did it again. Charged right at her....but same result...even though there were 10m between us... Thats suicidal, BUT SO MUCH FUN!

I like being chased by destroyers, I fire my aft torpedo at him, and he'll never get me. ONLY use torpedoes, he'll kill you before you can man the deck guns.
Iv fought off a destroyer numerous times using only the deck gun with my trusty type VIIC. Though i have to admit, it is usualy a horrible idea

Know your enemy. Some nights that speeding destroyer can be a cruiser on redeployment, a chance for recognition.
If the destroyer is crossing your bow...
you should be at periscope depth on silent routine.
your eels should be set for impact at shallow depth, and high speed if TIs.
fire ahead of it like you're leading a duck. er, if you've ever duck hunted.
If the escort is bearing down on you, and you're facing it with the time, fire a spread with eels on the same settings, shallow and fast, but with a very small angle. Anywhere from ten to forty five degrees is enough for you to turn your boat and avoid him oncoming. Ninety degrees would be great if we had independant drive control.
But we Don't.

Also you'll hear advice about going deep upon detection. You've popped a convoy, and they charge you immediately. Use that knuckle manuever if you still have tubes loaded. Go no deeper than 25 meters, and don't worry about making noise. They know where you are, so punch the throttle, line up and shoot those last torpedoes even if they're just snap shots.

But whenever you're evading, always head towards the target(s), then turn towards the flow of traffic. Again, go deep only if you can't get off another round.
Be aggressive!
Now where have we read that before ?
