As I approach the target , I try to keep close to constant relative bearing (collision course. Then either slow down or go to astern propulsion.

I go manual TDC, set zero gyro angle, if aob is in large doubt, I rig for magnetic pistol.

The pero: no magnification, the moment the ship appears I can decide whether to fire or not.

I've followed Convoys for 3 days waiting for the weather to clear. Very good stuff. Very tense.
