I just hope that Ubisoft, will make SHV and make it a U-boat sim, if there is no more sims from Ubisoft, I wonder about the health of Subsim. I donot have SHIV on my hard drive and I donnot miss it .

Why you are asking for SHV if we have SHIII about u-boots? Game play is excellent, may be graphics not as in SHiV, but as you said "I donnot miss it" :-). If they would made patch 1.5 with enabling AI u-boots, AI torpedoes... uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, it would be great, but it will not happen. Even without this features SHIII is great and as for me SHIV sucks? may be this is tha matter of time?

SHV to me (in an ideal world) = SH3(GWX) + SHIV (patched and working)....combined so the player could play either side in either theatre

They're killing the simulation....
Damn, he got that right....
Me, I would personally like to see US/USSR nukes, but given the fact that UBI cannot even patch their product, I have no hopes for SH5...

IMHO I doubt Ubi will release another in the Silent Hunter series
Pity
Having said that whats the point of releasing more if they cant finish the ones they have released

I fully understand ppl wanting to boycott Ubi too
A lot of ppl paid out hard earned money for limited editions etc and we all know how the game is so no point going over it again
While I dont condone the threats of sueing etc I cant for the life of me understand why so many in this forum are against dev bashing in case Ubi drops the sims
They arent doing us a favour
We PAY for their work
And we EXPECT a finished game

Citing other games unfinished is irrelevant too
We are not interested in those
Just the SH series

Tis indicative of the way its going
XXX game was buggy so we shouldnt expect that this one isnt the same
Yes we should
We pay for a playable working game and dont get it
So vote with your pocket and dont buy any more from them
Maybe its the only way they will learn
Yeah I know sub sims are a niche market but sales are sales
And if every player of every genre of game did the same with the half finished ones they would have to take notice and finish the job

You think they might have learnt from SH3 but seems they didnt
Again IMHO they got worse

Mine is not a very different opinion than what's been already voiced here. I don't really think we're gonna see a SH V from Ubi, as long as they are taking a lot of time to even fix the current "superstar" of the series. And especially as they resorted to publicity stunts like "People, if you want it fixed, then cast your vote on the Ubi forum and show them how much you really want this patch." And this is only about fixing what's broken.
Or asking players to post, on the same forum, what's still wrong with the game. Like they can't read the zillions of posts here or their own forum to see what doesn't work. When SH3 was released, yes, there were a lot of problems, but patches were regularly released until the game was brought to a playable state. Nobody then talked about devs taking a long and well-deserved holiday, such as it happened now. They just kept working on it. Now, the patching was interrupted for reasons like "devs gone fishing" or "cast your vote and beg Ubi to make the patch."
In my eyes, this shows a decreasing commitment to the series and is equivalent to "No other SH game". I really hope I'm wrong and I'll make a public apology for being pessimistic the very moment Ubi will announce a new installment in the series.

It's possible, mate.... As soon as the SH4 final patch becomes available, the GWX team will start working on GWX conversion to SH4 : and hopefully it will allow us to switch between the two campaigns, american and german side of the war.

A lot of folks are saying the PC Market is dead in general.

But, with Vista you need a Dx10 Capable Graphics cards, so according to Microsoft anyway, there will be 100 million gaming PC's in the next year.

Maybe, there will be small independent developer that can step in and make us a great game.

Look at what Battlefront and ThirdWire have done for wargaming/simming with very small development teams.

I guess all we can do it wish for the best.

SH5 on a DX10? And maybe with a CryTEK engine?:hmm:
That is an option worth considering...
And support for SLI/Crossfire...
All interrior compartments....
Every sound available...
Crew interaction...
A wild imagination...
