Great job!

EDIT: one thing I noticed is that the patrol report texture you use is shared by the two sheets of paper one sees near the bottom of the sonar station. I'd suggest replacing this texture with something more "universal" like the original, such as a radio frequency list, possibly.

Your eyes servers you very well man! Thing is that the game uses 1 texture for all that stuff. Might have a look at it for a later version and see if one could add some textures etc.

lol, yes, I do have a knack for finding these types of things. For now it's fine and not that big of a deal, but of course an update to it would be great. Ideas for a more "generic" sheet of paper include my idea above, and perhaps the following:

-weather conditions over the past days / estimated sunrise & sunset times

-intelligence summaries on naval assets operating in the area (something both the OOD and sound man would want to know), i.e., "25 June 1943: COMSUBPAC reporting heavy concentration of warships in South China sea," or "Buildup of friendly forces imminent in Volcano Islands area for major assault."

-something else I've not thought of yet, but someone else may.

Great ideas man!. If and when I get more in to the 3D side of things I will look in to also replacing those "2D" maps with cloned 3D ones. Then we don't have the prob of interfering textures on that table.

I have one for you too CaptainCox. Very minor, but just wanted the credit for finding it....:rotfl:

In the sub that is used for the training missions....(the Porpoise class?), in the conning tower, on the floor in the corner behind the sonar man is a wooden crate on the floor that uses the same texture as the map table. You'll see your maps and ruler tool images wierdly broken up and pasted around the top framework of that crate.

This is like an easter egg hunt!

No worries though, you won't be able to do anything about that one, and it's a great mod! I can definately live with those small quirks.

Here's a pic...

EDIT: Actually I suppose a fix would be to create a completely new .dds with just the wood grain, than assign that new dds to the 3dmodel of the box, instead of the .dds for the map table, yes?

Yeah the wood texture is used elsewhere. It was a nice idea but I was afaid it might mean textures appearing in the wrong places.

Some thing I noticed when I was modding these textures last week..

All the different subs clip the MapStrat texture differently.. but you can resize that texture so it is smaller than the clipping, it gets slightly stretched but fills the allotted area nicely on all boats then.

I am using a Philippines map taken from..http://www.jha.jp/kaizu/q_o.htm

While it looks new (and is new) you can desaturate the colour and make it look older.

I prefered it with colour though. Plus it has a little japanese on it too like a captured chart would, and several boat used captured japanese charts cause they were more accurate.

On the interior textures, the japanese writing that appears on on some panels can easily be editied (I did mine to OPEN /CLOSE) though I dont know what the Japanese means, also on that texture, there is a lens texture used on the periscope but it has a massive refelection of a tree in it... yet there are no trees... I found a texture from a camera website made a nice replacement for this.. I would upload, but I am on dial up so can't. If anyone is desperate they can PM me and ill upload it while at work next week.

WOW...never seen that compartment :p. Yea to add a new texture would of course be the ultimate thing to do. I am trying to work up my skills in 3DS MAX but there is also some serious HEXEDITING involved to do that stuff. Baby steps i guess

@Jace11. looks really nice man!. Could I ask what dimension you stretched that to?, as i think that map dimension changes depending in what sub interior you are. Does that trick work in all?
