Torpedoes have a minimum depth, above which they become unstable and, at the very least, start to porpoise. They will also, usually, lose direction, in which case you may get your torpedo back. To all intents the gunboat is torpedo proof.

Yup. Sub-chasers and gunboats are nearly immune.
In no-wind conditions, you might get a mag hit on a sub-chaser -- absolutely no go with the gun boats. And in extremely strong winds, the boat might dip enough for the torpedo to nail the bridge. |
