The map in general has factual errors. Djakarta officially didn't exist until after the war when Indonesia was recognized as it's own sovereign nation. I changed it to Batavia as it should be.

I'll see if I can change the names on islands as well.

I'd try myself but you can write everything I know about file editing on the head of a pin IN BLOCK CAPITALS.........I think you get my point. Thanks for trying though, I really appreciate it.

Ok, a quick looksee turns up the Campaign_NMS.mis location 47 and 60. When opened in a text editor they reference to texture files I_Jawa.dds and N_JawaSea.dds. I'm now looking for those two texture files.

Campaign_NMS stores the names of islands and seas while Campaign_LOC stores the ports and cities. LOC is easier to edit because it only requires me to open the editor .

Edit: Ok. the dds files are stored in data\terrain\Locationmaps. Changing them is a little bit of a pain because I don't have the font used. There is a however a .dds with all the letters but I can't really use them with that low a quality. Does anyone know how to use a .dds for fonts?

Ok, it's a little bit of a hack-job, but it works.

Code:
Javafix

This little mod fixes the naming error made by UBIsoft and renames Jawa Sea and Jawa to their proper names Java Sea and Java on the world map.

Files modified:
Campaign_NMS.mis

Files Added:
I_Java.dds
N_JavaSea.dds

Install notes JSGME:

Extract the Javafix to the mods folder and enable the mod.

Install notes non-JSGME:

Extract the Data folder in the Javafix folder to your Silent Hunter 4 folder.

Alternatively in case this mod is somehow incompatible with another, follow these steps:

1. Extract the I_Java.dds and N_JavaSea.dds to the Data\Terrain\Locationsmap folders.
2. Open data\Campaigns\Campaign\Campaign_NMS.mis with a text editor such as notepad or wordpad.
3. Replace I_Jawa.dds with I_Java.dds in Maplocation 47
4. Replace N_JawaSea.dds with N_JavaSea.dds in Maplocation 60

Have fun!

You're very welcome. I'll probably add it to my RNN mod. I didn't know how Americans referred to Java so I left it star wars style until I found out.
