REQ Java
would it be possible to change JAWA and JAWA sea on the map to JAVA ????? or is this historically correct for US NAvy maps? (I,m a brit living in the US, so I have no idea if it's correct or not)
|
Ah! you now must have gathered that the US cannot spell, and that the UK cannot speak the queens english as well as the rest of the CommonWealth !
|
I've wondered if that was actually a joke on the dev's part or just a blunder...maybe they will fix it.
|
It might be historically correct for a map of Tatooine, but on US maps it should indeed be Java.

Seriously SS What is Tatooine? |
so is it a moddable change or is the map image one complete bitmap or whatever?
|
The map in general has factual errors. Djakarta officially didn't exist until after the war when Indonesia was recognized as it's own sovereign nation. I changed it to Batavia as it should be.
I'll see if I can change the names on islands as well. |
I'd try myself but you can write everything I know about file editing on the head of a pin IN BLOCK CAPITALS.........I think you get my point. Thanks for trying though, I really appreciate it.

Campaign_NMS stores the names of islands and seas while Campaign_LOC stores the ports and cities. LOC is easier to edit because it only requires me to open the editor . Edit: Ok. the dds files are stored in data\terrain\Locationmaps. Changing them is a little bit of a pain because I don't have the font used. There is a however a .dds with all the letters but I can't really use them with that low a quality. Does anyone know how to use a .dds for fonts? |
Ok, it's a little bit of a hack-job, but it works.
Code:
Javafix |
you guys never cease to amaze me.............ask and it shall be given, usually the same day..........thanks a million
|
You're very welcome. I'll probably add it to my RNN mod. I didn't know how Americans referred to Java so I left it star wars style until I found out.

MY download doesn't have an I_Java.dds.......... only an I_Jawa.dds which has the same properties as the file in SH4 (and is most probably the same file). Just downloaded it today so it isn't an old version of Javafix. Would it be possible to upload the correct version?
