I've messed with various settings in there for the different components, but have yet to be successful in restoring the destroyed engines on my boat.

zones.cfg has nothing to do with it, this is the file I would have tried too, but All my work has just been reading it... Apparently this is not the only place the state is saved - there are several binary files saved as well. This file is probably more for debugging than anything else. Good luck.
