[TEC] Saved Game Editing?

Anyone figure out a way to fix damage on a sub via a saved game? I encountered a large task force while going home to port after my mission. 2 Battleships, 2-3 Heavy Cruisers and a few light Cruisers with a mix of DD's. They took out my diesels and I'm dead in the water. I can't go to periscope depth, because I have a huge hole in my pressure hull. Any ideas?

I really want a shot at the rest of them.

Anyone have any suggestions or have done this type of thing successfully? I see two sets of the same files, but in two different directories. I can edit each one indentically but they have no effect.

See the thread about Zones.cfg [TEC] He speaks about looking at savegames. You could edit those files back to normal I would assume. 100% repaired.

ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc

I don't see zones.cfg under the saved games directory under My Documents. I do see the ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc, which I was trying to edit for my saved game. I found entries such as the following:

[UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 2.EquipmentSlot 2.Equipment]
ID=GatoDieselEngine
NameDisplayable=Diesel Engine
EquipmentInterval=1900-01-01, 1999-12-31
EquipmentSlotType=GatoDEngine
ExternalLinkName3D=NULL
FunctionalType=EqFTypeEngineDiesel
Hitpoints=100.000000
EfficiencyHumanFactor=0.570000
EfficiencyMechanicFactor=1.000000
Efficiency=0.570000
Damage=1.000000
DamageHitpointsConsumed=0.000000
RemainingRepairTime=0000-00-00 00:00:38
DamageDescription1=NULL,0,0.2,0,1,1,small malfunction,0,0,NULL,0.3,0.4,4.76351
DamageDescription2=NULL,0.2,0.6,0,1,1,Misaligned Axis,0,0,NULL,0.5,0.4,22.4817
DamageDescription3=NULL,0.6,1,0,1,1,fuse blown,0,0,NULL,1,0.2,3.84624

I've messed with various settings in there for the different components, but have yet to be successful in restoring the destroyed engines on my boat.

zones.cfg has nothing to do with it, this is the file I would have tried too, but All my work has just been reading it... Apparently this is not the only place the state is saved - there are several binary files saved as well. This file is probably more for debugging than anything else. Good luck.

Any suggestion on how to view the binary files easily? I realize that viewing it with notepad or wordpad won't work.

I think ncdrifter has a hex editor in his utility pack, or you can google one up. Really though, unless you know the "key" to how they structure the files, it will simply be meaningless garbage.

IMO, just make it a lesson learned to save more often if you get so bent about wanting to replay a situation.
