U-45 _ 6/12/1941 _ West of Biscay

Got to back home / Attack and observation Periscope destroyed / Radio Antenna destroyed / Conning tower with heavy dammage / No casualties in crew

Met a large convoy 10 hours ago ; Decided to Chloroform my WO for this patrol ; Sunk 3 Large cargos, but in panic, not seen this Flower Class rushing me ; Depth charged ... Conning tower out and a lot of noise from her ... Could escape running deep.

I awake my WO with some good Schnapps i keep with me for some great events, he awake quick and say to me : "Sir, we should back to base, i made a strange dream: A lot of our people spoke about to fight in another seas .. i'm worried "

"Fool !!!" i said ... Hmmm, we have heavy dammage, ok, let's go back to base.

During travel back to Brest, i heard at many times my crew who was speaking of something "pacific ?" don't heard exactly .. They must have smoke grass or something ? why they should want to be pacific ? we must be agressive, not cool !! What's going on there ..

When arrived at Brest, a guy named Thomsen, drunk as usual, said that the americans was attacked at Pearl Harbour, and a lot of guys betrayed us to fight with them ..

Anyway i will be there, at Brest for my next patrol, even if i'm the only guy on this sub!!. Maybe i will go to pacific with wife and children, but not before next hollidays, i still have some merchants to sunk here ...

As you all may know, I am making a second run on New York.

U-555 IXD2, still in the Golf von Vizcaya north of Spain. I have successfully evaded a bomber.(my first airplane ever encountered in GWX ever).

Will post in my thread New York, New York part 2 when I start sinking ships again.

Sitting at the bottom of the sea just north of Scapa Flow. Destroyer above me dropping depth charges. He can't find me but he is getting close. Second patrol with GWX. Guess they didn't appreciate my sinking of their freighter that had all the ammo that lit up the sky so nicely. Hope to be able to get underway soon, if we are still alive.

Ooff--nasty situation being in shallow water and stationary, try rising a couple of meters above botton and slip out at 1 knot.

You may be right. They say the memory is the second thing to go

no worries I am not actually "sitting", i am at a depth of 65m in 71m of water and cruising at a speedy 2kts. It just feels like I am sitting

If you go down to one knot, they might not find you

Amidst convoy in heavy fog... what else is new

Just returned from eye-catching, but ultimately uninspiring trip to the Pacific.

Lots of double turncoats are coming back. I guess those Lucky Strikes and Chesterfield cigarettes don't measure up.

Welcome back comrades.
