*shaking head* That serves you right - "having a bit of fun" by attacking a Destroyer with the deck gun!
Doenitz and the families of the 40something dead will not be pleased! ![]() Cheers, AndyW

Yeah, call me a girl's blouse but I'd have let the DD go on his merry way unmolested by my pea-shooter. Now if he'd been escorting something juicy things might be different...
As for surface issues, I learnt about the GWX bouyancy feature the hard way. I thought I was sneaking around Loch Ewe at periscope depth. In reality I was sticking my conning tower several meters out of the water for all to see as I was only at 2 kts and a set depth of 12m. I now pay very close attention to set depth and actual depth. |

Hope you sunk in shallow enough water for me to dive you're wreck.
Great fun to mess with them, if you get in a lucky shot sometimes they disengage and give you enough time to escape; course, you've got to get under the water to have any chance of getting away. I got luck once (ONCE) with an injured small escort, I’ve got no torps, and I'm damaged enough from his endless DCing that I can't maintain level so I have to surface or sink to the crushing depths, but he’s up there waiting. So I squeeze every last volt out of what’s left of my batteries to swing around to face the orbiting menace (who's burning badly already from a self depth charge (hehe)). I blow balas and man the deck guns as-soon-as we crest the waves shooting a blind shot straight into her. I must have hit something expensive as that bad boy lit up like my grandfathers birthday cake! She went dark and quiet and shortly after slipped into the dark deep and I limped home unmolested. Ichi…
