Ok..i got my game today and after playing it a couple of hours, this is my impressions.
Your 2D crew chanting numbers is a sign you don't have a legal version of the game. Read here: A message from the Silent Hunter IV Dev Team Please post your impressions when you play a legit, puchased copy without cracks. thanks, Neal Last edited by Onkel Neal; 03-24-07 at 12:39 AM. |

You should have seen Armed Assult(the biggest bug fix list I have ever seen),I still love the game but releasing in the state it was in,what the hell have they been doing for the last year?Having the games made by the cheapest labor countrys is not working and ubisoft policy on not saying anything about anything is just bull, maybe some day they need a boycot to wake them up.

What do you want? They took the SH3 coding almost WORD FOR WORD, not even bothering to change the name designations (it still reads German U-Boat names and weapon designations) and slapped a new coat of paint on it with a new map and 3D images. Anything "new" to the game is pretty much busted and the new dynamic crew system makes it feel LESS connected and real, as opposed to MORE connected and real.

All things that should be different, ARE different - you have a realistic TDC which is different and actually superior to the system on U-Boats (position keeper). You get different radars from earlier on. You get different torpedoes. The boats perform slightly different to their German counterparts in different aspects. Just a new map? It's a whole new theatre. The enemy composition is different (smaller convoys, more warships to meet), more opportunities for harbor raids on some small islands in the middle of nowhere etc. etc., photo recon and rescue missions. Further more, things like AI and improvements in campaign can't be seriously accessed by ppl within 1 or 2 days - especially when they are busy counting jaggies - so the verdict is still out on those, but what I did see yet I like very much. I also don't see the problem with the new crew management - I'm glad I do not have to drag stupid little icons around all damn day long in order to keep things going like it was in SHIII. And not being able to click on ppl to give orders? Big deal. Actually, the sim feels much more sim-like to me than SHIII out of the box ever did. |

Patches are on their way, and I am sure modders are already working on improvements. Just be patient, your money is well spent

Yeah, the generic random missions in the dynamic campaign alone is worth the money, not to mention the really cool 3D damage and translucent water.

Lucky you being able to surface in the middle of a convoy without fire from destroyers. ![]() |
