Default Time compression leaving Lorient

Maybe I am missing something, but is there any way to get out of Lorient quickly? apparently it is either too shallow or too narrow for time compression to work. Any thoughs?

Some areas while leaving Lorient will drop the TC. There is a fix for it but I do not know what it is. No worries, someone will come along to advise

I used SH3Commander to raise the allowable TCs near land etc. I assume you could also manually edit a cfg file but not sure which one without searching. Just don't raise everything too much or you can end up missing important events like 'oh dear, there's a ship in the way'.

Good luck.

Edit : just re-read your post. Hmm, TC doesn't work at all?

Lorient has a fair amount of traffic. Thus, high TC=Embrassement to the able seaman. I just enjoy the trip while fairly safe from enemy action, it only takes about 20 minutes.

Use SHComander ,set tc at 64x near land and use slow speed out of pen and watch map. You won't run over escort at that speed. Use uzo to set matching speed of escort and follow to get past mines and nets. This is among many, many reasons to have SHComander installed.

ps use 5000mtr scale when plotting course. If this doesn't make sense let me have some cofee I just woke up. Then will check back. Good Hunting.

Use SH3Cmdr or edit the CFG file. I personally have mine set to 128 near land. This won't always help you as you will still be knocked out of TC when a plane or ship is spotted. Also at 128 TC nearby ships can be lost from visual only to be spotted again. A bit frustrating but I'm usually out of Lorient in about 2-3 mins realtime.

128 is about right

With those settings I whip through the Kaisers canal and out of Lorient

Though I do like to stand on the bridge and manually sail out most times

Default Easy Fix for Time Compression

Go to "My Directory"

Click on SH3 subdirectory to open.

Click on cfg subdirectory to open and locate the file called "main" which you'll open.

In this file, at the top you'll see a list of the time compression settings. You will want to change the proximity to land from 4 to 128. I've also changed the enemy aircraft setting to 0 so the computer stops when I'm attacked by aircraft.

Be sure you click save before you exit.

I have read so many posts on this forum of "I'm afraid of going into or changeing files". Or I forgot to do a backup. Or better yet I forgot where I
changed it. With SH3Comander you can change tc any time you want and change it back and set tc for a list of different circumstances. this reminds me of an old acronym K,I,S,S. :rotfl:

Lorient + High TC = a Bernard type outcome!

Lorient: one of the few downsides of being a Type IX Skipper
