I think I have you all beat.... I have GWX loaded and on my first patrol I didnt follow the boat that guides you out of the harbor of Willemshaven.

I got about 1/2 way into the harbor (4km away from the dock) and must have hit a mine... within seconds we were on the bottom with massive holes in our VII-B ...all hands lost.

And the Korvetten Kaptain from the Academy that said "I will be one of the best U-boat commanders" was fired immediately and sent to the Polish front to serve Schnitzel to the troops.

My current patrol is 13 with no sinks and no mid saves. I'm a chicken and only take the safe actions most time. The closets I came was this morning with patrol 13 and then at patrol 5 I hit some mines in my own harbor and had to be towed in (end mission with lose of renown). This is the longest I've ever gone so I wonder is thats why my crews morale is low.

Taking the safe route:hmm:. Not something I do often. I take some very deadly chances. Last night I was in 28 meters of water outside of Freetown, 1943, looking for trouble. 28 meters and warships do not mix very well

Well, I have GWX installed, and I've just completed my 6th patrol . I have 2 Officer dead, and 3 petty officers, but we've made it 65.000 tonnage :p.
U-boot IXB, March of 1941, 100% realism, map markers off

I was a member in good standing. Then, returned from patrol 3. And then, returned from patrol 4 with 103Ks . Now back from an incredibly short but intense patrol (Jul 1941). Suffering from combat fatigue and the haunting memory of too many Bernard moments. 72K tons and a Kight's Cross with oak leaves. Taking a rest in harbour. Drinks are on me. Even Steed is invited :rotfl: :rotfl:

Count me in!

My last career only lasted two patrols in U-147 (a IID) from Kiel in March of '41. Der bloody Kanal got me. Blown to pieces in only about 40ft of water south of Dover. The galling thing about that was I had just previously deftly snuck into Dover and fired a full spread at a liner which despite a heavy list didn't sink!

I swear the AI cheats sometimes. Scope up, destroyer on patrol thousands of yards away... scope down, next thing he's heading straight for me and shooting flares in the dark sky. How the hell did he know I was there? :hmm:

Oh well it was an exciting career while it lasted!

I'll scuttle my boat every 2nd patrol if that's the case

Well I'm a double member tonight.

Patrol 2. Patrol Grid DJ 97. 17 days at sea and Nada. But gets a convoy report about 150km off the coast of Canada.

Unlucky for me as I get mown down in heavy fog by a black swan coming out of nowhere.

I both love and hate this game!
