234% realism:

1943 -I have outfitted a tug with two flak guns, every crewmember is named Bernard, I use only reverse and patrol Der Channel and Gibraltar exclusively. Have edited cfg files to give me negative renown for sinking merchants and am only engaging black swans and flowers after first giving them a warning shot across the bow. TC is set to x0.002 so the mission i started last week has me almost out of the harbour.

Because that was still too easy, i have inverted all controls, use my mouse as a footpedal, play directly and exclusively from the F7 screen, and my gramaphone has just one track on it: "Wasserbomben" gets repeated every three seconds followed by a 20 second long Air raid Siren...

Oh, and no external camera.

Top that Wulfmann, you pansy...

I play around 60%+. I could not hit the broadside of a barn if I wanted to.

I only use only one crutch, but it's probably the biggest one of all - map updates.

I never use the WO - I find manual torpedo targeting to be the most enjoyable aspect of the game.

I tried keeping the external camera and only using it for eye candy, but I didn't have the discipline, so I finally turned it off entirely. I miss it sometimes - I sunk my first liner last night, but the tactical situation was extremely hairy and I had to get out of there so I couldn't even watch the torpedo impact in the scope - just "Los!" and run.

update: 100% on GWX

If looking for a challenge, try turning off your magical GPS by removing your U-boat marker from the nav-map

Never used external camera, but I need weapon officer.
An acceptable balancement between realism and entertainement is my way; about 80%, if I recall correctly.

I agree; certainly this is one of the biggest.

Curiously, though, I read elsewhere on subsim that GWX does not deduct from 100% at all if you are using nav map updates. Also, I understand that the sonar lines (showing appx. range) remain visible if map updates is on. These lines are a huge help to me. Maybe some of you GWX experts can confirm this.

I am running just over 50% on my first career, but intend to learn how to play at 100%.
