Who plays this @ 100% realsim?

Just a thought how many (besides me) accualy play sh3 at 100% realisim?

Stormflux 07-30-05 10:23 PM

well...

I just tried manual torpedo firing today, but I'm a bit jaded by the experience. I don't actually think it's a horrible way to do things, but I think the interface for it could be better. For instance, give me TDC controls in periscope view. Of course, I can't hit the broad side of a barn, either, but that's another matter...

I want to play with total realism, but it's so flippin' hard I'm lost as to what to do...

I've been playing at 100% minus the cameras for a long time - I went ahead and turned the cameras off (only used them for screen shots and spotting dud torps anyway) about 4 patrols ago, in case you get more renown at 100%

I'm still missing a few shots here and there, but I'm getting better with the TDC and my range calculations, and it's making me spend more time and thought on my approach setups. I recommend it if you haven't tried it - you can always drop back down if you find you don't like it

It would be nice to be able to input TDC changes or at least see the TDC settings directly from the scope/UZO screen - I do find myself having to switch back and forth a bit awkwardly sometimes

Only about 9%

At least according to the poll at:

I really enjoy the graphics in this game too much, I'll never have 100% realism just because I love watching the action.

CCIP 07-31-05 01:28 AM

Technically, I don't, I play at 94%. But when you consider the fact that I almost never use WO targeting, and even then I use it with sever restrictions - you're pretty much at 100 anyway. :hmm:

DerKaleun 07-31-05 04:57 AM

I have two careers one at 92/94? % because of the camera. I document my patrols with screenies.

The other is at 100% to get the thrill beeing depth charged without beeing able to look outside.

retired1212 07-31-05 06:12 AM

0% realism.

CptGrayWolf 07-31-05 06:20 AM

Don't forget 100% 'realism' isn't realistic at all. Captains don't figure out firing solutions and target values, that was usually a job for the Exec.

I have recently switched to 100%, and trust me you are in totally different game. I shall not be going back. Try avoiding a DD on 100% and you will see what I mean...

Mike 'Red Ocktober' Hense 07-31-05 07:58 AM

yeah Clive... that's what i've been talking about all along... it's a totally different game...

i mean, i can understand gws about the graphics being too good to pass up, and maybe after i finish this career (if i finish it alive), i'll open a career with a lower realism... so i can see a bit of the graphics i've been missing... but right now, for me, this is the best

100% is for wimps.

Try 150%, switch your monitor off, play in foreign language and wear ear muffs.

I play 100%, always except when testing new mods.
