I'll introduce myself as well.

Started playing submarine games on the Amiga (can't for the life of me remember what it was called). Progressed on to SH2 and loved it loads. moved on to CFS3 stayed with that for a while, but in all honesty unless you had a "super pooter" you're always going to have slow frame rates with that game.

I was playing a lot of FS9 till quite recently and then I discovered SH3. All my birthdays came at once!! and with the addition of GWX (a big well done to everyone involved in making GWX - and all the other mods) I can't put the game down. Fortunatly I'm already divorced so I can play to my hearts content.

I'm a Brit too by the way

Hallo Paukenschläger!

Bought the game three weeks ago but because of exams I have only been on one patrol. I haven't installed GWX yet, but I plan to do it when I've played the stock version a bit longer.

So far I think it's a great game - and a challenging one as well. The community is great too - and really adds alot to the game. By this I mean all the great tutorials/academies, stories and the mods.

The reason why I bought the game is a general interest in military history and simulation and strategy games.

Good Hunting,
G Lassen

Got this game from one of my cousins and after i played it the first time....i decided that this THE ONE..... I love everything that's World War 2 related and tried to play other WW2 games like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Commandos, Hidden and Dangerous and some airplane simulators like IL2 Sturmovik and..... can;t remember the rest. But i have never been more impressed by a game like Silent Hunter 3. I mean just the feeling of sailing across the world and sinking battle cruisers is just.....undescribable. In conclusion i'm happy that i finally found my favourite game which comes along with a great community as well.
I'll be seeing you around folks (stupid exams, GRRRR.....)

Bought the game a few weeks ago and love it!!! I've never gotten this involved in a sim before. The first successful stalk, and kill are memorable.

Same here, only, for crying out loud, keine Englander.. Dutch here, once YES once, we ruled the seven seas.. never forget our tiny country!
Remember Willem van der Dekken ? he's the captain of the Flying Dutchman, google it. and you know where I life :-)

Anyhow, the ex FS9 or still being captains in it, are the best to play SH3. They know how to navigate and patience properly.
Yup, I am one of them.

Anyhow, Sh3 is one of the most imersive and athmospheric games I ever saw..

Keep up the good work herrn Kaleuns.

Hello all,

Having got bored in the vastness of space playing Eve online for the last couple of years I decided to visit my old games box to see if there was anything in there that could be enjoyed again and SH3 stood out as when I first played it not long after release my grafix card (Nvidia 6600) wouldnt run it, in fact the only way I got it to run was to swap over to my old card (Nvidia 5700) which worked, albeit slowly! Not surprisingly I wanted to use the newer card mostly so SH3 was very soon consigned to the topshelf. Now however having found this forum, Danlisa advised me to ditch the intro movie which did the trick
I can at last appreciate what has become a great experience with the GWX mod added. Sims have certainly progressed since the cassette loading days of Microprose classics like Silent Service and Red storm Rising!
