Here we go again.
The story is 100% BS. I heard it back in 1970, only then it was the battleship Missouri. It gets posted here at least once every six months, and it's always "This is a true story!" http://www.navy.mil/navydata/navy_legacy.asp?id=174 The difference between a fairy tale and a war story is a fairy tale always begins with "Once upon a time...", and a war story always begins with "No $#!+, there I was..."
