It has nothing to do whit submarines and it happend 1995 also but i found it so funny so i thought i wanted to share it :)

An actual radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations USN, 10-10-95.

Station #1: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.

Station #2: Recommend you divert YOUR course 15 degrees to South to avoid a collision.

Station #1: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Station #2: NO. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Station #1: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER ENTERPRISE. WE ARE A LARGE WARSHIP OF THE US NAVY. DIVERT YOUR COURSE NOW!
Station #2: This is the Pudget Sound lighthouse. It's YOUR call.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess the captain if the carrier is the US version of BERNARD :D

If only the story was true. I could see George Bush making that kind of mistake if he was at the helm.

Yup, I doubt it is true, it has been a long time since lighthouses where manned.

The dialogue was also used as an example in Steven Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective People".

Here we go again.

The story is 100% BS. I heard it back in 1970, only then it was the battleship Missouri. It gets posted here at least once every six months, and it's always "This is a true story!"

The difference between a fairy tale and a war story is a fairy tale always begins with "Once upon a time...", and a war story always begins with "No $#!+, there I was..."
