In my new GWX life, I got bumped into a IIA and made one patrol in which managed to sink one ship per torpedo. The weather had been good and I remembered to economize fuel on the way out, so I had enough to burn chasing targets. I was happy to return to Kiel with a cupfull of fuel left and to find out I had enough renown for a VIIB sumbie.

Currently, I also am doing a career with the IIA. It's a nice boat, but he has a very small amount of torpedoes. On my last patrol I went to Dunkirk, sank a passenger liner (25000 tons) and a large tanker (16000 tons). For a IIA that's very decent I think.

Oh, and about the fuel: I always run at slow speed, my maximum range is then about 5500 km. Ofcourse when I spot a merchant, I run faster. One patrol takes about 20 days for me, so I'm quite attached to it

They are neat boats, like a good shotgun a couple of good scores and you start to wonder why upgrade. I'll probably do another patrol with it, but Im craving a deck gun too.

Anyone have anything on the damaged disapearing merchant? :hmm:

I remember from previous posts that ships and convoys never actually reach the docks but the game gets them close to the coastal destination and then the ships are removed from the game.

From your first post I assume you were both very near the coast and you just ran out of time as the ship did a Trekkie style "beam me up Scotty"

I had that happen to me just the other day. In my little Einbaum I put two eels into a C2, one set for slow speed fired first, and the other set to fast speed so that they would hit simultaneously. They hit, the ship blew up and sank right before my eyes (surface engagement at night), but I never got an 'Enemy Unit Destroyed'. I never got the renown for it either. That made it double nasty, because you can't rack up the renown in a Type II like you can with a bigger boat.

I did my first 9 patrols in GWX in an IIa in the 1´st Flotilla before trading her in for an VIIc. Did not do any upgrades at all to her. In GWX you have 3 spare torps, so you can reload all three tubes. Well, she´s an school boat now.

How strong wind and rain intensity that you can man the deck gun in is set in the StormConditions= line in the .cfg file in ...\data\Submarine\NSS_Uboat7b folder, for the VIIb. It has been discussed in several threads.

The disappearing ship most probably reached it´s last way point and got deleted.

1st. Flotilla strikes again with a fresh re-install & new carrer.
On the first patrol out AN16 or there abouts I found myself needing to surface to get to a costal. Oxygen was down and no way was a typeII going to catch a med speed merchant 5000 out submerged. But before that was going to happen I had to scratch a tug that was putzing around in my vacinity. Then it was onto business. The tug seemed to act almost like an armed trawler, usually I let them be.
