I tried entering Loch Ewe today, approaching the entrance at PD and silent running. I must have got too close to an armed trawler, because he turned in exactly my direction. I pointed my rear in his direction and set a torp to magnetic, below the depth of his keel. I went full ahead to get his attention, then waited until he was only 300m away and let out the torp. He blew up in a massive fireball. This got the attention of a second armed trawler.
He went straight for me as well. This time I put my engines on all back, pointing my bow in his face, attempting to do the same trick as before. I must have got nervous because I let thos one rip at about 400m and he managed to avoid it by the skin of his teeth. I then kept turning in circles, out-turning him. He couldn't get a run over me to drop his charges. I got another solution, guessed his speed and fired another torp when he was 90 AOB. I missed by like a meter in front of him. I tried the same thing again, and missed by the same margin behind his rear. At this point I was out of torps, wondering how I'm going to get away with this in 25m of water. But the trawler steamed off north... and I got out of there at silent running. ![]() Did I scare him or something? The bastard survived three very close shots indeed. |

Hi there,
I just started a new career in 39, and jumped a convoy in 35 meters off UK Eastern coast in a bad storm. I found it easy to loose the destroyers going to speeds of as little as 1 knot, even turning engines off at times. The destroyers seemed a little dumb, as it’s only the beginning of the war, I think I was lucky, the corvettes were only mildly threatening; while the destroyers were more of a challenge. Finally shook the escorts late at night and made a surface attack, and wow, GWX team, you have done it, the laser light show to end all. search lights star shells the lot. Impressions so far. Night time attacks are very good, damage model seems to be good, loved hitting a Pyro and destroyer, boy did they explode nicely, great sound too. A little worried as the escorts seemed a little stupid, but what the hell it's only 1939 and they have a thing or two to learn. Kind of missed the destroyer patrols from NYGM, but again its early days yet. Thanks GWX team PS Looking forward to a fix that allows raising and lowering the radio direction finder on the conning tower, then I recon SH3 will be about there. |

Ok about the new tatics and the not so arcade game...BUT we will release a more easy sensors mod to GWX soon.
Just wait a bit until the release dust go away! ![]() PS: And, yes, in the GWX manual we have a very good and interesting text about how to survive against these DDs.
