Thanks for all your help. Didn't even think there would be extra maps to work with. Should have known better, since I've been subing since AOD.

I ALT-TAB'd out to report that I have cleared the last hurddle and am heading out to open seas.

Interesting note: While walking through the crew compartment I noticed Eberhard Folkers had bought along some French stag mags and a tube of KY lubricant??? May need to have a sit down with the youngster.

New question: How do I stop crew fatigue? I mean code or mod wise. That is just a little too much detail to be messing with. You have to stop what your doing every 4 hrs to change out the crew is getting kind of boring and stupid.

Just use SH3 Commander to turn fatigue off completely. I agree that constantly monitoring crew fatique is too cumbersome and just gets in the way. Others like the realism. A matter of personal taste.

It depends on you preferences, try each one until you find a setting you like. There are others not included with Commander; do a search for Tikigod, think he had a compilation of the different fatigue models.

As it was said before try using SH3 Commander. There are loads of different fatigue options there. I use the No Fatigue option as I can't be bothered to rotate my crew all the time. But that's me. Try them and see what's the best for your style of play.

I use No Fatigue, too, as the fatigue system is simply lacking. On long patrols the crew simply grinds to a halt, and the game deteriorates into 90% micro-management.

When Silent Hunter 4 comes along with its improved fatigue system (auto-rotation being one of the promised features), I'll be sure to play with fatigue on, however!

Thanks for the help guys. I ran that 1st patrol without Commander. GW has the cre on a 4 hr watch. If that's how it really happened that's fine, but an auto-rotation system where you set it up while in base BEFORE the patrol would be a smart thing to add. Then you could still have the fatigue model, but without the micromanagement.

Swanson, being that your a Marine you better get your devil pup ass on your crew and do some management, then being as I am a fellow grunt (0321) years ago, you can start doing some monkey f$#kers until I am satisified you are ready for a patrol. Welcome aboard m8.

Oh, and whenever you leave a German port, there should be a small warship just ahead of you, outbound. That's your escort ship. Stay right behind her and do as she does, and you'll be just fine. When she turns around and heads for home, that means you're clear of the mines and sub nets. Good hunting!

You can also use her on your way in. Just wait for her where she left you and eventually she'll come. She's in an infinite loop between the outer perimeter and the harbour.

Funny thing is, so many people see her leave without considering her significance. I didn't realize she was my guide dog until a GW developer pointed it out to me - I thought she was just a random eye-candy warship!

I thought she was trying to race me

As for the fatigue, I play with the 8 hour model using the SH3 Commander thing. Yeah it does get annoying, but I don't necessarily want the game to be too easy.
