Why do I keep dying in Grey Wolves???
I've run 4 patrols in TGW and have died on all 4 within 100 miles of the harbor AT THE START OF THE PATROL! I've had collisions when there are no ships any where near me, hit mines, but they are not on the charts. And flooded twice for no apparent reason.:damn: :damn:
TGW has gone on my sh!t list untill someone can tell me either what I'm doing wrong, or what the deal is with this mod. I've had no such problems with NYGM or the stock game.:stare: On another note: I got SH3 Commander to work with the NYGM Mod, but the Commander declaried me dead when I docked the boat after my patrol.:damn: Is there something I'm missing here? |
Anti-submarine nets and uncharted mine-fields. That sounds likely to me.
It's cheating, but if you open up Campaign_Scr.mis in your Data/Campaigns/Campaign folder with your editor, it shows you all mine-fields in the game. |
Is there another way around this?

In the upper left corner of the Nav map (F5 key) is a chart showing mines and subnets at the entrance of friendly harbors.
GW provides an escort ship for you to follow out of harbor, he will guide you on a safe course. zz |
Now he tells me. Thx zzsteven.

That's what happens when you put a sargent to command a boat :D

You can also see where the mines are in game on your map screen. Use the little white pull tags on the top left part of the screen for that.

That's "Mr. Sgt., Infantry to you sir." ;) Yeh, that's right, I'm another landlubber wanna a be boat driver. Hey, I'm driving it like I stole it,:arrgh!: problem is that I didn't call in my brother SEALs to recon the port and channel for me first.

Thanks for all your help. Didn't even think there would be extra maps to work with. Should have known better, since I've been subing since AOD.
I ALT-TAB'd out to report that I have cleared the last hurddle and am heading out to open seas. Interesting note: While walking through the crew compartment I noticed Eberhard Folkers had bought along some French stag mags and a tube of KY lubricant??? May need to have a sit down with the youngster. |
New question: How do I stop crew fatigue? I mean code or mod wise. That is just a little too much detail to be messing with. You have to stop what your doing every 4 hrs to change out the crew is getting kind of boring and stupid.

Oh, and whenever you leave a German port, there should be a small warship just ahead of you, outbound. That's your escort ship. Stay right behind her and do as she does, and you'll be just fine. When she turns around and heads for home, that means you're clear of the mines and sub nets. Good hunting:up:!
You can also use her on your way in. Just wait for her where she left you and eventually she'll come. She's in an infinite loop between the outer perimeter and the harbour. Funny thing is, so many people see her leave without considering her significance. I didn't realize she was my guide dog until a GW developer pointed it out to me - I thought she was just a random eye-candy warship:oops:! |
