Okay, I know there are three torpedoes (so far) the G7a which is steam powered and referred to as T1, the G7e which is electric (don't know what that is in T?), the G7es which is an acoustic electric (don't know what that is in T?)
Now, the G7a at fast speed runs at 45 kots, the G7e only runs at 30 knots and the G7es only runs at 20 knots. I believe these figures are correct. Now I am in the latter part of 1943 using a VIIB (and don't intend to change to a different sub) with G7a torpedoes. Will soon enter 1944. So what I am asking is what torpedo should I be using because I've heard of the Flower Corvette which is very fast and apparently small. (Haven't come across if yet). What other torpedoes are there, what are they called and how fast are they and what do they do. I cannot find any info in the SH3 manual. |

What about later in the war, 1944, I assume it is best to use an G7e, but is the running time suitable for those fast moving destroyers and passenger liners?

For the small ones (c2 and smaller) a magnetic about 2 meters under the keel usually does the trick

And the G7es - Acoustic Guidance with a speed of only 20 kts. Are these fast enough to knock out a Flower Corvette and all the other fast moving DD or DDE which don't really slow down too much. Last edited by robj250; 11-03-06 at 12:09 PM. |
