torpedos

Do the T1 torpendos do less dmg then the electric onces? Becuse it can take like 3 torpedos to sink a small merchmant

U-104 09-13-06 12:32 PM

all the same.

Jimbuna 09-13-06 12:35 PM

They all have the same damage effect as far as I can tell

A Battleship can take a Beating, but 6 Torps? Hmmm. Give it 2 More, and wait some time. It should sink then.

Circle around to the other side of the ship and give it a couple eels, one in the boiler room area, and the other towards the aft section, as the heavier propulsion equiptment will help settle her in the water, with your counter flooding hits.

Too bad they don't heel over like the real thing, from loss of stability from heavy listing.

Difference with torpedos

The main difference is that with a magneto pistol you can get the torpedo under the ship. Its like "kick in the balls" you know what I mean.

And with electric torpedo you dont show propeller tail on surface.

I put 3 torps into the Nelson battleship once and she sank. That happened really slowly though.

I also read somewhere that torps impacting the same area twice has no effect.

Hehe what i do is kill the engine room on a BB then surface RIGHT next to her, she wont be able to train her guns on you...and if a destroyer opens fire on you 99 time out of 100 she will hit the BB instead and the BB will return fire and sink the destroyer

Skubber 09-13-06 05:22 PM

I believe that C-4 is right. The GW damage model is supposed to simulate various parts of the ship flooding over time.

So your first torp starts flooding in one compartment. You want to hit the ship somewhere else to start flooding in another compartment. Hitting it again in the same spot won't have much of an effect.

Which is better

Okay, I know there are three torpedoes (so far) the G7a which is steam powered and referred to as T1, the G7e which is electric (don't know what that is in T?), the G7es which is an acoustic electric (don't know what that is in T?)

Now, the G7a at fast speed runs at 45 kots, the G7e only runs at 30 knots and the G7es only runs at 20 knots. I believe these figures are correct.

Now I am in the latter part of 1943 using a VIIB (and don't intend to change to a different sub) with G7a torpedoes. Will soon enter 1944. So what I am asking is what torpedo should I be using because I've heard of the Flower Corvette which is very fast and apparently small. (Haven't come across if yet).

What other torpedoes are there, what are they called and how fast are they and what do they do. I cannot find any info in the SH3 manual.

I was looking at that document and noticed that there were no VIIB listed in 1945, so since I am in the latter part of 1943, almost to 1944, should I change to a VIIC now, because it will have to be upgraded.
