Very civilised It wouldn't work here, the brits are too reserved to walk into a shop full of people they don't know and ask a question - we just queue in silence trying not to make eye contact with anyone!

It's easy to stop people being rude, you just have to give them a good first impression.
I find its most effective if you give the first impression on the nose or in the stomach. Its all about the impact you make with other people.

Out of curiousity, in Germany, do you still have your beer mat marked for each steiner you drink then pay at the end ? I experienced this when I was over there many years ago.
