Default Lighthouses

So lighthouses, costal lights do not render as far as they should. about 5 miles sometimes less, or not at all. Fix?

Also, would like to add the collision alarm. How to add a key activated sound?

I have the sound clip, could rename and replace but dont want to lose others. Sound is a recording of the real collision alarm from USS Pampanito.

I'd actually like to rework the color coded clickable buttons in conning tower in TMO to be Dive (green) (General Quarters) Yellow Red (collision) as I believe are proper colors (correct me if wrong?) No action for red needed, just play the sound, the Green and Yellow can keep the actions of dive and GQ, plus sound effects.

I seem to have forgotten a few things lol. I've been refreshing on the forums.

Guidance appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Someone has a mod for those buttons already... I just cannot remember who, or what it is called... One thing to keep in mind is that there is a limited number of usable command "buttons" in the game, and it seems to me that TMO has already used them all. Don't quote me on that though...

The lighthouses are like the docks, in that there is a render distance limit. Quite a few years ago, member zel came up with a method of doing it by making a duplicate of the docks and attachments as terrain objects. I have no idea how he did that, but getting the two to align with each other in the player's "scene" in the game was a bit of a bother. I do not remember seeing him completing that...

Easiest way to get an object to render at a bigger distance, f.e. the lighthouse, attach to it an invisible plane below ground level even, that is like 20 km big. Then your boat will be already close to the object even if 20 km away, because the game will detect that plane that extends below ground as part of it. And the plane just adds 4 polygons to the object.

Now, THAT is an idea... what does terrain render at, 8.5km or so?? So maybe make the square that size or say 10km square, and maybe attach it to all of the "docks" in the game also?? Just a 2D square below the surface though, correct? I am going to have to give this a whirl, and see how much resource it eats up, if any...
