Well, Propbie, what to say..
Attempt 1) Loaded that #fixed# Majuro/Saipan save... Instant Crash To Desktop. Reloaded, same outcome.. Attempt 2) Preloaded a working save (not the Base Office/ actually did but...CTD). An Ocean Bound one. Twas OK. Returned to Game Menue. Loaded that #fix# again... No "No Mission Too Difficult" screen... But... Finally, we got it! Majuro Atoll and Saipan (as a Home Base)! https://yadi.sk/d/unUDqzhx1JfdiA Trying to make it to Saipan...shortly after leaving Majuro...some 150-200 nm away.. jamms...and CTD again.. Repeated with the same result ![]() Guess that bugged Majuro MUST BE LEFT BEHIND! at least for me . (assuming I'm running a Midway/ Saipan option now which is OK. No complains. ) But Bad Result is a gaining skill Experience anyway! Thanks, Propbie ![]() Last edited by Poprav; 01-28-25 at 08:57 AM. |

CTD - it's not just a job

![]() I have been going through all of the other files in your Save folder, and I have noticed other anomalies, such as the Log Book was not up-to-date, and the radio messages were way behind, so I am not certain, especially now, as to what happened, because none of the files "jive" with each other - they are not coordinated in time... This somewhat begs the questions: "How much Time Compression do you use, and how frequently?? Are you saving to a new file each time you save the game, or are you overwriting a previous save? ![]()

https://disk.yandex.ru/d/wn27V5W-n6Fp4A LOG BOOK Permanently erroneous. Tonnage grouped in random and mostly incorrectly attached to a day/time of actual sinking. In my experience of FothRS (SH4) gaming there was no realistic log book in Home Base Office. Except for the one while in patrol on boat. ![]() TIME COMPRESSION Well, it depends... Sometimes it's x4 (when lifeguarding)... sometimes x1024, even x2048 when amidst nowhere in the ocean desert. Nevertheless consider to decrese it when on approach to busy sea/air navigation areas (friendly/hostile ports and waters). ![]() FILE SAVING Always delete the old file. Than save a new one (but keeping the previous name...is that a mistake?) No overwritings. ![]() Over. ![]() |

Yeah, the Log Book in the office has been a bother since v1.0.xx whatever it was for my original disk. All patrols are off by 1 in the numbering, and sunk ships are somehow dropped, often if they are a "repeat" of an earlier same-named ship. The numbering of the patrols is easier to understand, in that one fellow started counting the computer way with 0, 1, 2, etc., while the next fellow started counting like a human, unsing 1, 2, 3, etc... still not an excuse though for the discrepancy.
It sounds like you use Time Compression the same way as I do. As for game file saving, it is best to do a completely new Save each time you do it, even if you make 15 saves on any given patrol. After you dock, you can then delete some of those, keeping one or two for the "just-in-case" situation you will invariably hit, such as a base transfer going awry... ![]()

Thanks for such a detailed review, pal. Hope it will come in handy.
![]() And back to Lifeguarding. Sometimes when on a rescue with time compression 32+ it instantly drops down to 8.. Does it happen because of some obstacle (or a man yet not sighted, especially out of flares) in the water..? Or for some other reason? Occasionly have made it to see some guys in distress with no red smoke but very, very rarely. Recall you taught me it's easier to find a flee on a dog rather than a man in the ocean... But it is a distressful shame for me not to find 2 of 3 downed crews reported .. ![]() Yeah, I remember ...It's all about realistic marine warfare, but..never like it to loose, letting boys for sharks to feed.. ![]() Last edited by Poprav; 01-29-25 at 10:51 PM. |

Same Old Deck Gun Issue.
Recently upgraded my bow deck gun to double fore'n'aft one. Issue No.1 Couldn't man my aft DG. ![]() Issue No.2 The Fore Gun is uncontrollable, completely. Unlike the Stern one. ![]() save_folderhttps://disk.yandex.ru/d/Dv_HZYGX1nvDeA Tried to do some fixes. https://disk.yandex.ru/d/fWLQoCLaf410bQ Did my best in a way of "...Support/How To/NewColetrainsAndOthersDGfix", but manning the Aft DG is the only achievement. Appeared even slots for gunners . Unlike the Gun Name in the crew management screen.. ![]() But can't control the bow gun still.. Only the Aft DG. Any help appreciated. |

this is the way. you have Ubi to thank for that feature. there is no fix that any of us have discovered. i remember the first time i encountered it. i forget which boat i was driving and it had one DG, forward. while in port, a new option appeared for two DG, one fore and one aft, and i probably had the same thought as you: i can man the forward gun and my crew can fire the aft weapon and we will rule the seas. imagine my surprise when we went to sea and i discovered that the only weapon i could direct was the aft weapon. Nuts. FYI, i stopped the mission, reloaded my in-port-save, and got rid of the second DG. good luck with whatever you choose to do. ![]()
