I would not consider this as a "mess" per se, but rather "deep research" in an attempt to find out what transpires in this game to cause issues like this, and then maybe prevent future issues with other players. With that, here is what I found in your Save game data (warning: detail and verbosity ensues).
In the CareerTrack file, your Captain's name is Basil G. Ross, and started on 7th December 1941 in Cavite with the USS S-34 (SS-139) boat... You then went to Darwin Australia and shortly after, Albany and probably passed through to the Brisbane base by 15 April, 1942. It is difficult to convert the "location" coordinates, but it looks like you sank an entire Task Force... lol - You were then sent to Dutch Harbor on the 1st of May, 1942. It is nice to see those assignments following as intended, but we do know from earlier player encounters, that the S-boats sometimes have an incorrect conning tower. Perhaps that contributes to what you encountered?? dunno. Anyway, you were promoted to Commander there in September 1943. You did the entire Alaska Campaign, and were transferred to Pearl on 22nd December 1943, still in the same S-34 boat. It looks like you had a very productive patrol on your last cruise from Dutch Harbor, finally docking at Pearl on the 26th of January, 1944. You were then given command of the USS Trout (SS-202), a Tambor Class boat, and went on patrol. You were then assigned to Midway and went on patrol 11th of June, 1944 and returned to Midway on 12th of July, 1944, when you were then given the USS Gato - which is where an error crops into the data... but why?? dunno. "NameDisplayable" stuff usual means little in the data. It is for the human eyes. Note the below differences between when you got the Trout, and then the Gato? The "Save system" does not show how the base change is initiated, but it does show a transfer to Majuro Atoll on 13 July, 1944, with a patrol start on 2nd August same, and the data ends. So, the game data shows you are currently assigned to Majuro, on 2nd August, 1944, which we KNOW is erroneous. I do not see how it did that... Current assignment is to Luzon Straits from a CenPac mission... So - I have edited the Save folder files to add another base change, and we'll see how this does for you. Previous Flotilla and Base change: Now, whether that missing SS-212 is the symptom, or the original S-34 boat when at Brisbane, or maybe some other reason, I do not know, but keep your original 00000001 folder 'safe', and extract this version and try running with it. I attempted to set your CurrentBase and Flotilla to Saipan. Let us know if it crashes you, or if you then have a home base to go back to. 0000001c.7z On that Google Drive page, there is a "Download" icon toward the upper-right of the screen. ![]()

Well, Propbie, what to say..
Attempt 1) Loaded that #fixed# Majuro/Saipan save... Instant Crash To Desktop. Reloaded, same outcome.. Attempt 2) Preloaded a working save (not the Base Office/ actually did but...CTD). An Ocean Bound one. Twas OK. Returned to Game Menue. Loaded that #fix# again... No "No Mission Too Difficult" screen... But... Finally, we got it! Majuro Atoll and Saipan (as a Home Base)! https://yadi.sk/d/unUDqzhx1JfdiA Trying to make it to Saipan...shortly after leaving Majuro...some 150-200 nm away.. jamms...and CTD again.. Repeated with the same result ![]() Guess that bugged Majuro MUST BE LEFT BEHIND! at least for me . (assuming I'm running a Midway/ Saipan option now which is OK. No complains. ) But Bad Result is a gaining skill Experience anyway! Thanks, Propbie ![]() Last edited by Poprav; 01-28-25 at 08:57 AM. |

![]() I have been going through all of the other files in your Save folder, and I have noticed other anomalies, such as the Log Book was not up-to-date, and the radio messages were way behind, so I am not certain, especially now, as to what happened, because none of the files "jive" with each other - they are not coordinated in time... This somewhat begs the questions: "How much Time Compression do you use, and how frequently?? Are you saving to a new file each time you save the game, or are you overwriting a previous save? ![]()

https://disk.yandex.ru/d/wn27V5W-n6Fp4A LOG BOOK Permanently erroneous. Tonnage grouped in random and mostly incorrectly attached to a day/time of actual sinking. In my experience of FothRS (SH4) gaming there was no realistic log book in Home Base Office. Except for the one while in patrol on boat. ![]() TIME COMPRESSION Well, it depends... Sometimes it's x4 (when lifeguarding)... sometimes x1024, even x2048 when amidst nowhere in the ocean desert. Nevertheless consider to decrese it when on approach to busy sea/air navigation areas (friendly/hostile ports and waters). ![]() FILE SAVING Always delete the old file. Than save a new one (but keeping the previous name...is that a mistake?) No overwritings. ![]() Over. ![]() |

Yeah, the Log Book in the office has been a bother since v1.0.xx whatever it was for my original disk. All patrols are off by 1 in the numbering, and sunk ships are somehow dropped, often if they are a "repeat" of an earlier same-named ship. The numbering of the patrols is easier to understand, in that one fellow started counting the computer way with 0, 1, 2, etc., while the next fellow started counting like a human, unsing 1, 2, 3, etc... still not an excuse though for the discrepancy.
It sounds like you use Time Compression the same way as I do. As for game file saving, it is best to do a completely new Save each time you do it, even if you make 15 saves on any given patrol. After you dock, you can then delete some of those, keeping one or two for the "just-in-case" situation you will invariably hit, such as a base transfer going awry... ![]()
