Default Backing away from the attack scope

Am just getting around to learning SH3 and I'm having a few awkward moments.

Most of them are or eventually will be under control.

But there is something that is driving me nuts.

I really want to move around the submarine as much as possible without using shortcuts because they lessen the imersion (at least for me).

I can get myself to most posts on the boat without shortcuts. The problems start when I want to leave a post.

Is there a command that causes you to stop looking through the periscope and take a few steps back? If so, is there a separate command for each periscope? I think I managed to step away from the observation scope once, but can't figure out how to do the same with the attack scope. Which is a shame, since I really like the conning tower graphics.

I really wish you could go through more of the doors (mostly because I want to inspect the engines and the torpedo tubes). And I really wish I didn't have to always give commands to both engines at the same time (I really want to execute a turn by putting one engine full ahead and one full astern).

Welcome aboard!
Control -F2 lets you wander about the Zentrale. Other than that, I think we're stuck. There are severa; things we can't do with engines, which is annoying.
Good hunting,

While going throught the command room , you can click on dials with left mouse your camera focuses/zoom on the dials , and when you right click your camera is in the normal position again. I dont know if it also works with the periscopes.

Download setkey tool from u-boat simulation.com and you can set the go back cam key to that effect.

Welcom aboard
Right click will take you one 'room' back toward the control room in most screen (bridge, conning tower, radio etc) except for the periscopes. Sad but true. To leave a periscope you have to use the keyboard. If you want to spend time in the conning tower, (left) click on the hatch from the control room or right click to go one step back from the upside conning tower (open air).
Unfortunately, the engine and torp rooms are not modelled ingame. Nor is the ability to manually control engines. Still, with all these limitations, SH3 remains a superb game, a classic. Enjoy your hunting, Herr Kaleun!

Using KP0 I step back from attack periscope. I use it to open the tubes with the switches right underneath...

Thanks for the tip. I will try it tonight.
This is a rather late answer, I know, but this is the first time I open Subsim since yesterday morning.

:hmm:

A curse on whoever designed that pamphlet that came along with my game instead of a true manual !!!

Edit: Oh man is this awesome!!!! from this view, if you turn to the right you can have an UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW of all the command room's important dials!!!

Second edit: WOOHOOO!!! you can right click on your navigator and you can then have an unobstructed view of the navmap on his desk! finally (I find this more inmersive than going directly to the 2D nav-map screen

I repeat: A Pox on that acursed leaflet writer that didn't have time to properly document cool details like this but had time enough to talk about stuff that didn't make it into the game.
