That's very true. What could be made very interesting if radio messages could provide changes to your orders. That 24 hour patrol requirement is just for giving you more renown at the end of the day.

MP? Meh, I can live without it.

Actually, the 24-hour patrol requirement came about because the dev team originally stated that SHIII would have a 'Mission-Based' campaign system similar to that of SHII, only more advanced, with branching missions based on your performance in the previous mission. Players pretty much staged a mutiny, saying "We want a dynamic career mode like the one in Aces Of The Deep!". After a survey of player desires, the game was delayed for several months while they re-wrote the engine, giving us the AOD-like career/campaign we demanded. It looks to me like the '24-hour patrol requirement' is a holdover from the original mission requirement system.

I could be wrong, though.

Apart from how many US subs will be playable - will there be any British playable subs ?
They operated in the Pacific too
Of course would be nice if we could play Jap subs as well
Imagine taking out one of those big I-400 types with the aircraft on board

I would be more interested being a skipper in a Japanese submarine, than an American one. Things would become more challenging while the years pass, while on the American side, things would probaly get gradually easier and boring.

I have to say that I agree entirely with The General.

Silent Hunter 3 could have been an amazing game, but a WW2 Uboat game that does not require use of the radio and that does not involve other uboats is a sham, there is no escaping that point.

Plus we all remember the bugs that SH3 shipped with.

If it wasnt for the modding community the game would have outlived itsef long ago. Im not being argumentative, I would watch paint dry if it was a painting of two uboats.

In my opinion, whoever is responsible to be offering us SH4 when SH3 needed so much work, is an insult. I for one will not purchase it unless it is an outstanding game.
