[WoS] Ship Identification
Hello
I just watched the excellent videos from stoianm about the manual TDC, but I have a problem with ship identification. The Tanker is not underligned so I cannot modify the type... On top of that when I click my officer "torpedo attack" I do not have the first option "ship identification" like we can see in the videos.. How I am supposed to identify the ship I have locked? Thanks for your help |

Standard TWoS install disables officer ID ability.
The normal way is to find the ship in the rec. manual, track target, and press the "send mast height to TDC" text. This sets the type even if the text doesn't reflect it. I looked up the video mentioned and it is of another version of the game which has interactive text for setting type. TWoS doesn't do this. It's just "the target." There's no need to specify a type. The only thing which is related to type is sending mast height to stadimeter for ranging and this is only a luxury. There is no problem for you to set it manually with mouse wheel equal to the book number. In TWoS press the clipboard button and you should see a "tab" of the rec. manual on the left edge of the screen. Drag it out to use and find the ship in the book with your eyes and brain. |

For ship identification you need to enable a new mod form the TWOS optional compatible mods list. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...20&postcount=1 I would also recommend looking at YouTube video's that use TWOS. TWoS Mod nighttime is way to dark to identify or use Stadameter?
Even lowering GAMMA way down... What do you all do with nighttime attacks using Peri? I'm finding it impossible to identify or attack anything at night now! |

To increase night brightness you should increase gamma, not lower it down...

But again if I'm forward of the target (and can't parallel for whatever reason) then I have to some guesstimating to do with other methods to get a decent solution. Normally I don't fire Torpedoes over about 2000 meters to target if I can't get good info....to minimize the small errors that usually occur.

I do not think it is too dark to attack. Had a freighter in sight with only one aft torp. Went full speed ahead, passed behind him, changed cours again so it seemed I was on a collision course and when I got as close as 450 meters I did a u turn and fired at 180 degrees. Their search light was of no use to them anymore. Darkness can be used to your advantage. Use it.

Since this conversation deals with ship identification...
I will point out that Mitons speech recognition allows ship identification in TWoS, no other mods needed. |
