Yeah. I remember that.

It's not so hard to create the effect.
What is hard is to have the effect trigger at the proper time.

After fumbling a rear torpedo shot, U-553 surfaced, paralleled their course, and opened up with the deck gun.

The cold waters quickly pulled her battered hull beneath the surface.
