You need to understand that you are running a computer game on your PC. There are no "fractions of people". Playing a computer game is a personal experience viewed and enjoyed differently by everyone. SH3 tries to accommodate a broad range of features for everyone, so it's both a simulation, a shoot'em up and a fanatasy game / secret weapons of the Kriegsmarine (remember, you can do war patrols with an XXI and a VIIC/42!).

Dividing people for their personal prefferences for a computer game serve no useful purpose than trying to identify oneself in a superior / elite category. I can understand that for politics / economics or philosophy principles. But for a computer game, no.
