Hi,
Could someone explain me what is the utility of the 2 files inside the Env folder, the BMP one (whole planet picture) and the .raw one (can’t open it cause i don’t have the codecs)? What do they do exactly please? Are they different from one mod to an other?

Iirc, the files are used to show where each zone/area (arctic, med, etc.) applies on the map.

Maybe someone else can correct me if wrong. I recall it being discussed many years ago.

If I remember correctly when I did the coloured map that is used in LSH (under my old name IFRT-WHUFC) I opened the raw file in photoshop then imported the palette file terrain.pal which defines the colours on the map, each individual colour represents a land height or sea depth. The height & depth I think is hardcorded within the raw file & cannot be altered without throwing out the game engine.
Hope this helps Rick |
