I looked at keyframe stuff in the dats with s3d as well, figured I would be better getting the other things right on the ix first, before trying to learn a completely new thing.

must be the merge controller, saw that in goblin, thats what got me thinking about using the dat animations for the torp doors.

I also considered using a dial controller on each door bone, the logic being if it can move a mesh needle, it can move a mesh door also, just need to play with the numbers, to make it look reasonable....."maybe"

I see another problem with dat animations: the SH5 engine is able triggering the appropriate animations when the right time comes. Dat animations used in SH5 might lack support and play indefinitely (just like the imported DC racks before Vecko removed the animation stuff from them)... but as you suggested, let's face problems one by one!

Exactly that!

Yes, that's another possible approach, the main drawback still being triggering conditions for the animations to be played

Found this screenshot of your previous work mkiii. I must admit , my heart's trembling every time I see it...

This is what we should focus on in my opinion.

A little bit patience, and I hope she will be available in one of future TWOS updates

Man I would love to see this happen. I cannot believe no one has actually done this considering how popular an IX boat is on the spectrum of silent hunter and it baffles me that the actual producers left this out. I just don't understand why the SH3 base upgrades and purchase options are greater than its successor...

It sure would be nice, but alas, most difficult to accomplish. Read the thread, and you will notice that mkiii ran into issue after issue when attempting to activate the IX... SH5 is very restrictive in many aspects of its modding "interface"...

Default Welcome aboard!

SrgtTurk! I see the the infamous seven-year-itch has brought you to the surface, finally, after a long 'silent running' since 2017!

I agree with that sentiment - I suspect that they just ran out of time and money after creating full Type VII interiors. I really enjoyed playing Type IX careers in "Aces of the Deep" - and I, too, sorely miss having a Type IX in SH5. I would have even been happy with just the control room and no full interior. I strongly disagree with people who pan the Type IX as too big and unmaneuverable for Atlantic warfare - they were capable boats until the end of the war.
