Smaller boat, less time to Dive and more maneurability. and those few secons can save your sub .
I have a IXB that has a little more time to dive and a lot of torpedoes load (22) I like larger boats since sh1 and i found it a good balance (size-load-dive time) in the late 1941. I don´t want the IXC because is a bit too larger and takes more time to dive. Perhaps in the late war with a lot of aircrafts could be better a smaller boat or stay deck awash at 7 meters and save time to dive.

Personally i like smaller boats, and the one a appreciate very much and do not want to change for a VIIC..is my U-100 type VIIB. It's fast and agile underwater, and i like the aggesive look of the bows of the VIIB. |

You'd be amazed at how fast a Type IXC can go down when you're already at flank speed, and that's without running with decks awash. |
