Heh, I wonder how many fishing ships were sunk by U-boats.

Elco torpedo boat as target practice:

Cool, you hit him straight in the aft, but why do they fly in the air?

Because they aren't designed to come apart in the game, and if the torpedo does 500 tons damage and the boat only weighs 35 tons, then...

That just happened to be one of "Mush" Morton's hobbies - once the "Wahoo" even took out a fishing boat with molotov cocktails b/c the AA guns jammed.

I have never used a torpedo on small craft. For the most part I usually leave them alone, since it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble. If I'm bored or haven't sunk anything for the duration of the patrol, then I might go after them (deck gun, AA guns, and ramming only).

those little bastards will call you in if they see you....Ill remain on course unless im spotted. Then, I just ram the sucker at flank. That usually sinks em, and rarely damages my boat....

I have only sunk 1 of them in five careers, normally I don't even bother with them and I only took that one out because I was on the surface in Southend harbour.

Morton also gunned down over 1,000 Japanese survivors of a transport once (on the same patrol, I think). "Military necessity." :hmm:

Anyway, this coastal craft idea seems like a lot of fun - maybe I will try it some time. I did torpedo a Tugboat once, but unlike the other coastal crafts, it was nearly the size of the Coastal Merchant so the effect wasn't as cool.

BTW - Iambecomelife, did you know that UBOAT234 made the other single-skinned ships in the game multi-skin capable? Are you going to try to make some new skins for the Tugboat? I don't wna to get too off-topic though, as this belongs in the SHIII Modding thread.

What were 1,000 people doing on a transport ship? Unless the transport was carrying people.... Oh, I see. A cruise liner. Unless it was one of the transports ferrying Japanese soldiers.... Oh, I see, an army transport ship. Fair game then...
