For some reason I was able to run both the wide screen and full interiors for a long time without issues.
Yes the load times are long but eventually the game loads up.

I've played with both wide screen on/off, full interiors on/off, and always had the same results.. the game would work great until at some point in my "career" I would get a CTD. At that point it seemed like I could never recover. I had multiples saves at different points in time but same result..so. I sort of gave up on WAC. I love what they did.. but .. probably it's my install. who knows..

I still love SH3 so I'm considering going back and running vanilla or some minimal mods..

I actually turned towards NYGM after my save broke during my second patrol. It feels so stable no matter how I abuse it and has super fast loading times. I’m still in 1939 so don’t have a chance to experience the destroyer AI’s just yet

Fwiw, NYGM's various escort types will apply hurt. But only if you do something very, very stupid/unrealistic tactic.
Use realistic tactics/mindset, and they're easy to deal with. For that matter none of the megamods escort ai comes close in terms of skill/tenacity/pucker factor moments to it's AOD equivalent, if you're familiar with that sim.
