WAC loading time and RAM usage
Hello All,
It was almost 8 years since I last played SH series and the new release of UBOAT brought me back. I installed the WAC 5.2 last night and have two questions: 1. The manual says that due to RAM usage issue the widescreen GUI and full sub interior (same as FM interior I suppose) should not be used together. Is this with or without 4GB patch? How many of you actually use them together without issue? 2. The loading time is terrible even with the game in SSD (NVME), about 5min for single mission and even longer for campaigns (due to port traffic supposedly). Is this what I should expect or is there something wrong? The mods I have on are: WAC 5.0 WAC 5.0-5.2 patch Ahnenerbe widescreen GUI alternative VIIC turm U96 skin Thanks a lot! |
1) it is with the 4GB patch...no full interior, or problems!
2) your loading times are correct :yep: |
Thanks Fifi! I’ll not use the full interior then, hope I can get a stable game after all these years (was never able to sail past the bay of Biscay 8 years ago without CTD with mods enabled)

For some reason I was able to run both the wide screen and full interiors for a long time without issues.
Yes the load times are long but eventually the game loads up. I've played with both wide screen on/off, full interiors on/off, and always had the same results.. the game would work great until at some point in my "career" I would get a CTD. At that point it seemed like I could never recover. I had multiples saves at different points in time but same result..so. I sort of gave up on WAC. I love what they did.. but .. probably it's my install. who knows.. I still love SH3 so I'm considering going back and running vanilla or some minimal mods.. |

Use realistic tactics/mindset, and they're easy to deal with. For that matter none of the megamods escort ai comes close in terms of skill/tenacity/pucker factor moments to it's AOD equivalent, if you're familiar with that sim. |
