Alas - as children we liked to see Burt`y in his compressor-breathed TransAm, what fun in front of the TV box in the old GDR.

They didn't mind you watching that in the old GDR?

Why should I mind - it has shown me another world.
And as early 20s I am then after the German unification with powerful cars on the old Nazi highway with max. 290 km / h flown. What an adventure - in the end they were all afraid of what the train looked like through a straw. ![]() |

No, I meant the authorities.... they did not mind?
I love that last image in your description too: "In the end...." I don't know quite what it means but it is powerfully poetic, Bleiente!

I can not give you a proper answer.
But surely - the resistance was deeply rooted. Still, much was better if it had not been for the idiots of Erich Mielke. The foreign intelligence service HVA under Markus Wolf was at least far ahead of the CIA. ![]() |

I had not known about Erich Mielke. This is very interesting history and I shall be reading more... thank you
![]() I see now that actor Kaspar Eichel played Mielke in the 2015 movie-documentary about his life. Also (interestingly) that he provided voice-acting for "Wolfenstein, the New Order", the popular video game

Erich Mielke was a very bad and vicious idiot.
I just wanted to confirm with my previous statement - we are all just being pushed over the slope by idiots like lemmings. Please excuse my way of speaking... |
