I saw a number of movies he acted in and for the most part, liked them. Burt added the fun factor in movies he acted in with Dom Deluise. I especially liked " Smokey and the Bandit 1 and 2. " Jackie Gleason and Jerry Reed also played great parts in the film along with Sally field. Jerry Reed, an accomplished Country music muscian and guitar player provided comic relief along with contributing songs for the movie.

Jackie Gleason as Buford T. Justice in Smokey and the Bandit.

Jerry Reed's " East Bound and down "

One of my all-time favorites was Sam Whiskey, from 1969. It also starred a couple other favorites of mine, Clint Walker and Ossie Davis. Oh, and Angie Dickenson.

I'm surprised he never won an Academy Award.

Sad to hear another favorite passes away. I never heard of Sam Whiskey. I'll have to see about getting it. While checking it out I was saddened again to see Clint Walker passed away back in May/2018. My goodness. R.I.P. to both of them.

Now it's my turn to be shocked. I had no idea Clint Walker was still alive, let alone that he died this year. I also didn't remember that Cheyenne ran for eight years. I remember seeing him on a talk show back in the day, talking about his skiing accident. Someone had given him a get-well card with a cartoon of him with a ski pole wrapped around his neck. He told the host the truth of the matter, which was that the ski pole stabbed him in the heart , but he somehow survived.

I'm sorry he's gone too.

Burt was also broke when he died living in his mansion in Florida that he sold three years ago for 3.3 million dollars. The new owner let Burt live there till the day he died. :yep:

I watched Smokey and the Bandit 14 times when it was first out in theaters. Like Burt in Deliverance as well. RIP.

Alas - as children we liked to see Burt`y in his compressor-breathed TransAm, what fun in front of the TV box in the old GDR.

Eichhörnchen 09-13-18 01:45 PM

They didn't mind you watching that in the old GDR?

Bleiente 09-13-18 02:13 PM

Why should I mind - it has shown me another world.
And as early 20s I am then after the German unification with powerful cars on the old Nazi highway with max. 290 km / h flown.
What an adventure - in the end they were all afraid of what the train looked like through a straw. :haha:
