The game crashing to the desktop before loading to the command room is usually a Windows compatibility problem.
First, make sure all your applications SH3.exe > JSGME > SH3Commander > GWX are set to run in Administrator mode.
If the game continues to ctd change Windows 7 to compatibility mode XP.
SH3 generally does not have a problem with Windows 7 where as Windows 10 has to be run in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Ibe found GWX3 to be probably the most stable of supermods. But i also had some CTDs specially when loading saved games, when i had the merged campaign part enabled (plus game took a lot longer to load).

once i disabled merged campaign CTDs dissapeared almost completely.

AFAIK merged campaign is only needed if youre gonna do inter-ocean missions, so maybe it would be a good idea to disable it?

I installed Living Silent Hunter because this has all the patches and disabled and enabled mods it came with. The game would crash if I loaded the older campaign from my old Living Silent Hunter save. I created a new one and it works like a charm now. And I enabled the compability mode.

Is there a way to improve the loading time in Living Silent Hunter?
It takes 3-5 minutes to load one mission in the career.

Some while ago I read about a mod that changes the models/meshes of the boats, can't find it again. So my question is, what mod is that and could you give me the link?

It takes 3-5 minutes to load one mission in the career.

I have an SSD and takes over 4 minutes to load a game save.
LSH3-2015 is a big mega mod and the time taken will be dependent on your systems specs.

Remove Waterstream+Exhaust combi. It always crash in my PC - let me know if that works

I used to regularly get crashes after one hour or so running SH3 plus GWX on a Windows 10 install

I changed the SH3 exe to run in Windows 7 compatibility - since then it has been a lot more stable (maybe one crash per 30 hours)

Might be worth a try?
