Now, lets read Skybird's post critically. What do we see?

“The Russian military already has psychological operations units, but they are all useless. It’s the GRU that does all the real information war.”

This quote illustrates the material collected by Skybird well. As any intelligent reader knows (or could trivially find out) GRU is a part of the military. This blunder by a more respected subject matter expert - Kofman illustrates the poor quality of the Russia related analysis in the West, which deteriorated rapidly with the fall of the Soviet Union.

There are many others in those articles (for example in that same article - the secret GRU manual was printed in a foreighn country), but then they are not really worth reading as they lack any valuable information.

Bad quality of analysis breeds misunderstanding. If I may quote one Russian thinktank in regards to the recent security conference in Munich:

Восприятие ими речи С. Лаврова (как и речи Д. Медведева в 2016 г.) свидетельствует о том, что уровень стереотипизации / демонизации высшего российского руководства остается на высоком уровне.

Theire reception of Lavrov's speech (just like their reception of Medvedev's speech in 2016) shows that the level of stereotypisation/demonisation of the top Russian leadership remains high.
